Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes the entire hair from the hair follicle. Warm wax is applied to the skin and adheres to the hair. When removed, the hair is pulled from the root.
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but you can experience a short, stinging sensation after the strip is pulled. Continuous waxing causes finer and less hair therefore waxing becomes less painful.
If waxing is done consistently, hair grows back slower, finer, and sparser. Shaving cuts the hair off at the skin and the quantity and thickness of the hair stays the same. Shaving can also increase skin sensitivity and create a higher probability for ingrown hairs. Electrolysis and Laser hair removal doesn’t work for everyone and can be unpredictable and cost prohibitive.
We use 2 different types of wax. For the face and more sensitive areas of the body, we use a hard wax that shrink wraps and hardens around the hair and lifts from the skin creating a less painful removal. We use a more traditional soft wax for larger body areas such as legs, arms, chest, and back and it is removed by using a cloth strip.
If you’ve allowed your hair to grow out to the proper length prior to waxing, you can expect to be hair-free for a minimum of 1-2 weeks following your appointment.
No, waxing actually has the opposite effect. Hair that is removed at the roots grows in finer and softer over time.
Waxing is for everyone—guy or gal, young or old! Speaking of young, if you’re under 18, please bring a parent or guardian on your first visit as we need their consent. Better yet, have them book an appointment, too!
To provide optimal services, only the client and Waxing Specialist are allowed in the treatment room during an appointment. Except for clients under the age of 15, where we invite a parent or guardian to be on hand.
These medications increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates so waxing could potentially remove skin as well as hair. Please let your Waxing Specialist know immediately if you are on any medications. Also be aware that chemical peels, laser, and micro-dermabrasion can also affect skin integrity.

We recommend that you exfoliate the area several days prior to your appointment. Thoroughly clean the area keeping the skin moist, but not greasy from heavy lotions or oils.
Hair needs to be at least 1/2cm for effective waxing. For most people this means waiting 2-4 weeks (minimum of 2 weeks) from the last time you shaved. The longer you wait, the better the results.
We recommend that you should avoid sun exposure for 48 hours prior to and after your wax.
Whatever makes you comfortable, keeping in mind that the “skimpier” the underwear the better our Waxing Specialist can see what they are doing. Also, we encourage you to leave your new underwear at home in case we get any wax on them. We also provide complimentary disposable underwear for your use.
Also, avoid stimulants such as caffeine as it may increase sensitivity levels.
Ingrown hairs are thin hairs that cannot push through the skin resulting in inflammation. The best way to prevent is to gently exfoliate 2-3 times a week. We have a variety of products available including body scrubs, bath poufs, and Tend Skin to help minimize this condition.
Your skin may be sensitive following your wax. Any red bumps or irritation should subside within a few hours. Avoid sun exposure/tanning, hot baths/hot tubs, heavy lotions, and exfoliation for 48 hours following your service.
This varies depending on area of body being waxed and individual hair growth, however, on average we recommend waxing every 4 weeks for best results.
